Blush Pants & Lace Top

You know those pieces in your closet that just make you happy? These pants instantly lift my mood and are the perfect pop of color! This mauve pink huge is probably my favorite shade of pink because it is so feminine and chic. As I stated on my Instagram yesterday, when I look for clothes to invest in, I make sure they are appropriate for multiple occasions. These pink pants are perfect for work and can easily be transitioned for cocktails, church, or even Saturday shopping.

What are some of your favorite pieces in your closet? I would love to know!

Floral Shorts

I am obsessed with these floral shorts! I have probably worn them at least five times since I got them. I purchased them in an extra small during the most recent Shopbop sale and they sent me the large. I actually tried them on and thought "wow, I'm glad I got the extra small because these are big!" Well, turns out they were the wrong size. But, I liked the length and the drawstring makes it easy to pull them in, so I kept them! I love when things work out :)

I hope you had a great weekend! Mine was spent getting over a nasty cold by shopping with my mom (spotted my dream bag, drooling), eating lunch at the Neiman Marcus cafe (such a treat and we go just for their strawberry butter!), and having a fun little bridal shower since my mom is getting married in June!

Thank you so much for reading.

Boyfriend Shorts

Rag & Bone denim shorts, J.Crew top (old, similar), Vineyard Vines sweater (old, love this!), Michael Kors handbag (old, similar), David Yurman ring, David Yurman bracelet, Laura Mercier Lipgloss in 'Tulip', Urban Decay lipliner in 'Obsessed'

I would like to introduce you to my mother's favorite shorts....not, lol. Okay, so she is really not a big fan, but I love them! I had been eyeing them for a year and finally decided to buy them during the last Shopbop sale. I am just recently starting to get into distressed denim again and I'd say I definitely dove right in with these. (The last time was circa 2005 with Abercrombie denim skirts...oh you wore them too?)

Although these are definitely a splurge (but worth the price tag, nonetheless!) I have rounded up some amazing distressed denim shorts that will leave your outfits cute and your wallets happy.

Happy Friday! Unfortunately my weekend will be spent getting over a cold, but it will be so nice to catch up on TV and relax.

What I Desire

I just wanted to compile a collage of pretty things that are either recent purchases or things that I would love to see in my closet! As you can tell, these pieces can all be mixed and matched which is definitely a quality I look for when purchasing new clothes. These floral shorts have been on heavy rotation since picking them up during the Shopbop sale and I may need to snatch up this adorable gingham romper before it is too late! And these cute little espadrilles? I love slipping them on for errands because they are so comfortable and chic. Oh, and I cannot forget to mention my new favorite lipgloss, it is the perfect bright pink (yet still totally appropriate for everyday) for spring!

Neutrals & Pastels

Clearly I have an array of go-to poses that I use while taking outfit photos....lol. Anyway, lately I have been gravitating toward my more feminine and pastel pieces. I love flowers, so I am sure that is where my outfit inspiration has been coming from lately! I spotted this top last weekend when I was getting some new work clothes with my mom and I love that it looks just as cute with some dress pants or a skirt at the office.

Tied With A Knot

I am so excited that it is FINALLY warm here in the D.C. area. This past weekend my mom and I had a total girls-weekend that included movie nights, planting flowers, dinging al fresco, and of course, shopping! I totally believe in Seasonal Affective Disorder and I am so amazed at how just a little bit of sun can lift my spirits! I hope you had a wonderful and sunny weekend, too. :)

This skirt is an all-time favorite and I am contemplating getting a second one since mine is at the cleaners so often! I spotted this striped blouse a few weekends ago and was bummed to see that they were sold out of my size. However, I decided to make it work and purchased the 4 knowing it would look so darling tied while giving it a baggier boyish fit (I am a 0 petite if you are wondering about the fit). I loved this outfit so much that I actually wore it two days in a row!

The Classics

Banana Republic shirt, Current/Elliot denim, Michael Kors wedges (last season, similar & similar), Tory Burch handbag (old, love!), David Yurman ring, Faux Pearl studs

Lately, I have been having a very difficult time finding clothes in my closet that I like. I think it is a combination of graduating, starting my first full-time job, and ultimately getting older. I have been evaluating my current wardrobe and most of the clothes I have are from a time in my life where I was more focused on dressing "preppy" rather than developing my own personal style. As I get older, I am naturally being drawn to higher quality (and unfortunately more expensive) pieces, which can be super frustrating since I am still transitioning out of that "broke college student" phase in my life. To combat this, I have been reaching for the classic pieces in my wardrobe--the ones that are more chic and timeless, so I can eventually begin investing my money in less, but better quality clothes that better reflect myself.

Are you having a difficult time transitioning your wardrobe into a new season of your life? How are you making your current clothes work? I would love to know!
