Running Errands

It was raining while taking these photos, so pardon the hair! When it comes to running errands, I want to be as comfortable as possible. However, living in a small town, I am guaranteed to run into someone, so leaving the house without makeup is not an option, ha! My trick is to wear something super comfortable and put on some makeup. Bonus points if the outfit makes you look athletic...lol.

This is my first pair of New Balance shoes and I can assure you that it won't be my last. They are affordable, lightweight, and perfect for those days when you want to be put-together yet still comfortable.

Cozy Color-block Cape

ASOS cape, Ann Taylor turtleneck (similar), Jolt skinny pants, Michael Kors boots (similar, splurge), Forever 21 fedora (less than $15!), Marc Jacobs handbag, David Yurman ring, Baublebar earrings

I have three go-to coats that don't swallow me whole (petite problems). So, since I will find pretty much any excuse not to wear a winter coat, finding warm layering pieces like this one is key. I am convinced that 'cape' is a socially acceptable term for wearing a blanket out in public, with is a-ok in my book! If you don't own a cape, it is so easy to recreate the look with an oversized scarf, too!

Depending on where you are, you may be experiencing a big snowstorm (like me) so be safe out there! My boyfriend is here visiting for the next few days, so I see lots of Parks & Rec reruns in our near future. Have a wonderful and warm day!

Watercolor

Italian silk scarf (similar, similar), Madewell sweater (similar), Loft corduroys (currently 60% off!!), Loft pumps (similar), Baublebar earrings, David Yurman ring

I was going through my iPhoto and realized that I completely forgot to post these (hence the long hair, which I am currently reminiscing about). This winter, I have really been embracing pastels, especially pinks, blues, and purples! My boyfriend's sweet parents brought this silk scarf back for me from their trip to Italy, so I cannot find an exact one online. But I have linked up a few other gorgeous silk scarves for y'all!

Tomorrow I will be heading to Florida to visit my grandparents for the next few days. After the awful snow, ice, and rain we've been having, it will be so nice to soak up some sunshine with them! I hope everyone has a great rest of their week!

P.S.
Remember how I mentioned my little Rocksbox review with a coupon code? Well, they are offering you guys a FREE month! Just use the code 'laurenxoxo6' at checkout!

Everyday Makeup

What started off as a "favorite products" post turned into my full-fledged every-day makeup tutorial. I guess that just shows how much I love everything I use! I am a total creature of habit, so if I like something, I stick to it. Some of these products I have been using since my freshman year of high school! Also, I have fairly normal skin (a little dry in the winter, a little oily in the summer), but I use these products year-round.
(If a product is not mentioned, I just haven't found one that I 100% love/would purchase again.)
Face:
Moisturize: I use this tinted moisturizer in 'Light Tint' to even out my skin tone. I would recommend using another moisturizer underneath, as it is not very moisturizing
Foundation: either this or this depending on if I want light (BareMinerals) or full (Laura Mercier) coverage. I love the Laura Mercier kind because no matter how long I have it on, I am not oily whatsoever!
Concealer: place a dot under each eye then blend in a triangle shape
Highlight: When I remember, I use this on my forehead, nose, and above my cheeks
Set: I use this powder to set everything and plan on trying this Laura Mercier version next
Bronze/Blush: Last, I pretend I know how to contour and use this bronzer in 'The High Dive' with this blush in 'Pink Coral'. I love Bobbi Brown blushes because they are very pigmented but still natural looking

Eyes:
Brow: I use the powder from this kit (only $3!!) with this brush starting in the middle and working my way to both ends
Prep: I prime with this paint pot in 'Painterly' and use the powder from the brow kit on my lids
Liner: I have been using this in 'Blacktrack' with this brush since high school, it is totally fool proof! If I am feeling lazy, I use this in black.
Shadow: I lightly apply this shadow in 'Brun' over my liner to dull the harsh line and use this in 'Naked Lunch' on my inner corners and below my brow (sometimes on cheek bones too!)
Lashes: I curl my lashes with my Chanel curler (limited edition, but I'm convinced they're all the same) and have been using this mascara in 'Very Black' forever! I really want to splurge on this

Lips:
Moisturize: I always start with my Burts Bees
Line: I live and die by lip liner, no joke. This is my holy grail product because I have such thin lips. Even if I have no makeup on, I still wear this liner in 'Pink Mauve' because it is a near match to my natural lip color.
Stick: I switch between this in 'Hibiscus' and this in 'Get Ready'
Gloss: If I want something more sheer, I love this gloss in 'Bare Peach' and usually wear this in 'Orchid Passion' over lipstick!

Feminine Lace

Loft top and tank, Madewell denim, Loft pumps (if between sizes, size down), Baublebar earrings, J.Crew necklace (similar), Marc Jacobs clutch (old, would look amazing with this or this!)

If there is one thing I cannot get enough of, its pale pink. It is probably one of my favorite colors because you can wear it year-round and is so feminine. Throw in some lace and it'll basically be my favorite thing in my wardrobe! Although I don't really like how this clutch paired with my outfit, it made me realize how few I have (seriously, only one legitimate clutch). I think this will be my next purchase!

I hope you all had an amazing time ringing in 2015 and have a very happy and healthy year! 2014 was a really great year with a lot of milestones. For example, going out of my comfort zone and starting this blog. It is definitely still a work in progress, but I am really passionate about it and I am so grateful for everyone who has supported me! I cannot wait to see what 2015 has in store for all of us.
