Shopping In My Closet | Dreamy Maxi Skirt

For me, one of the hardest parts about reading fashion blogs is wanting everything.

It is so easy to get caught up in all the fun purchases and so easy to forget about the not-so-fun expenses (i.e. rent, school books, bills, etc.)

Thus, to challenge myself to utilize pieces I already own, I have decided to start a series called "Shopping In My Closet". These are going to be pictures of old clothes and accessories that (unfortunately) are probably not for sale anymore...but I am going to try my hardest to find similar pieces for you guys! I am hoping that this series will inspire you to dig through your drawers and file through your hangers to rediscover the great pieces you already have in your wardrobe!

Zara maxi skirt (similarsimilarlove this!) | J.Crew top (similarthis one is gorgeous) | Marc Jacobs cross body (similarsimilar) | Tory Burch Revas

I seriously forgot how much I love this maxi skirt. The word dreamy instantly comes to mind with its soft, luxurious fabric that literally glows in the sunlight. For some reason, I always forget about my maxi pieces, and I loved getting compliments on a piece that I have had for so long!

Have you shopped in your closet lately? Find any hidden gems?

Lauren

Comfort Zones

Lauren's comfort zones: Comfortable shoes. Small social gatherings. Being behind the camera instead of in front of it (we're still working on that one)...you get the idea.

Not Lauren's comfort zones: Rompers. Bright colors. Attention.

I would classify myself right in between being an introvert and an extrovert. Someone who has no problem meeting people and speaking in public, but would rather focus all the attention on other people.

One of my Mid Year Resolutions (I figured New Year's wasn't an appropriate title anymore) was to be more extroverted. Well, since I express myself most through my style, I figured a piece of clothing out of my comfort zone would, well...bring me out of my comfort zone! (And I think its working!)

I know I'm a bit late jumping on the romper train, but I'm here to stay! I'm really diggin' the hot pink, too. Since this outfit makes such a statement, I decided to pair it with neutral wedges, my everyday bracelet trio, and these gorgeous turquoise Kendra Scott earrings. Speaking of Kendra Scott...I am completely obsessed. I recently purchased these and had to go back and get the turquoise ones too!

I just think this hot pink romper is so fun. I am already planning on wearing it to one of my sorority's date functions this fall! Have you stepped out of your comfort zone lately? Have any tips on trying to be more extroverted? I would love to know!

Chambray Shirt Dress

I have been on the hunt for a chambray dress for a while. You know, something effortless but still looks cute? Well, I found the most perfect one and its on sale!

My sweet sweet boyfriend actually got me this dress for my birthday (and logged onto my secret "Wish List" Pinterest board to find it). Isn't he the best?! P.S. if you're on Pinterest as much as I am, I would love to see what you're pinning! Let's follow each other!

My dad's camera has been acting up recently and it took me forever to be able to get pictures off. Unfortunately, I lost a lot of them...these are the only ones I got of this outfit! But y'all, this dress is SO. SOFT. Its practically an acceptable form of pajamas...

And I couldn't forget to show off my new converses! Funny story...I dressed like I was in a boy band in middle school. I know. Its okay, I'll laugh a long with you. Anyway, I had quite a few pairs (my signature look was one red Converse and one black...I kid you not) and this is my first pair since! Good thing those days (and pictures) are far behind is ;)

P.S. if you have small feet like moi, check out the kids selection of Converse. The 3's fit me perfectly and were so much cheaper!

Hope you're having a great day!

Oh, and speaking of things being on sale (noticing a pattern?) I hope you guys have taken advantage of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale!

One of my favorite times of year is when Nordstrom's Anniversary Sale rolls around. (Like we all really needed another excuse to shop) If you are a cardholder, you get early access to the sale from today until July 17th. Start making those wish gotta-have lists!

Two years ago, I finally pulled the trigger and purchased my Tory Burch riding boots. In my opinion, the Anniversary Sale is the BEST time to purchase your splurge items because they are at such a great price! Make sure you act fast, because these babies tend to go quick! This year's Tory Burch boots are so classic and perfect! (Trying to convince myself over here that I don't need a second pair...)

I have already started my list and these Steve Madden booties are at the top. I think they would look so cute in the fall with these J Brand plum-colored skinny jeans! And this Tory Burch wrap bracelet would definitely complete the look...don't you think?

What do you plan on purchasing during the Anniversary Sale?

Happy Shopping!

Lauren
