The Perfect Summer Dress

Happy Monday, everyone! First off, Little Styled Life has joined Facebook! So be sure to go over and like the page so you never miss a post, see exclusive content, and sneak peeks for future posts.

I received this dress as a birthday gift from my boyfriend's parents. It had been on my Pinterest wish-list forever and I was so excited when they surprised me with it! It is honestly the perfect summer dress. Lightweight, breezy, super comfortable, and white & lace is my all-time favorite combination. To keep the bohemian vibes going, I grabbed my favorite black hobo bag and some comfy sandals to complete the look.

Do you have a favorite summer dress? How do you style it?

Thanks so much for stopping by!

A Weekend In Washington D.C.

Last weekend my boyfriend and I stayed in D.C. It was my 23rd birthday and he was leaving for New York to begin his international tour, so we thought it was perfect timing to have a little weekend getaway. We stayed at the new Marriott Marquis and it was stunning. There is so much right around the hotel, too, so we were able to walk to China Town and even walked to the National Theater!

Our room wasn't quite ready, so we walked down to Brasserie Beck for Moules-Frites (mussels & fries) for lunch and oh. my. goodness. some of the best food I've ever had! If you are ever over by China Town, its a little off the path, but so worth it. The restaurant is lined with bistro chairs and the decor inside and out is totally Pinterest-worthy.

We were upgraded to a suite and it was spectacular. The views and the room were gorgeous! My birthday present from my boyfriend was a pair of tickets to see the Broadway show Newsies. After we got back from seeing the musical (if you have the chance, you must see it!), we were welcomed to a bottle of champagne and chocolate covered strawberries from my boyfriend's parents...such a sweet surprise!

This post is a lot more long-winded than most, but if you are ever looking for somewhere in Washington D.C., I would highly recommend the Marquis!

Have a wonderful weekend.

Denim on Denim

Happy Wednesday! If you have ever wanted to try the denim-on-demin trend, this outfit is a little 'beginners guide' (or a cheat sheet) if you will. I pair this chambray top with everything (last seen here) including my all-time favorite pair of distressed denim shorts. I think denim-on-denim can be really chic to really edgy, pending on which denim pieces you decide to mix and match. Instead of doing the typical blue denim colors, I decided to do white and lighter tones of denim. To offset the casual look, I added a feminine cross-body and my favorite and most comfortable wedges!

How do you wear the denim-on-denim trend?

Expect the Unexpected

Dolce Vita lace top (old, dress version), Rag & Bone denim shorts (SO worth the price!), Prada handbag, Ray-Ban sunglasses, J.Crew flats (similar), Bobbi Brown lipgloss in 'Petal'

One of my favorite ways to create interest in an outfit is by mixing styles. Here I chose to pair a playful lace top with distressed boyfriend denim and a feminine structured bag to make my outfit a little more unexpected.

Sorry for not having a post on Friday! Thursday was my 23rd birthday and I spent the weekend in D.C. with my boyfriend before he left for New York to start his new job. The goodbye was bittersweet, as he will be traveling internationally over the next 15 months, but the next time I get to see him is September, so it won't be so bad!

Thanks so much for all of the birthday wishes! It was one of the best birthdays yet.

Summer Gingham Skirt

So I have to admit...I have worn this exact same outfit probably five times already, no exaggeration. I just love how summery and casual this outfit is, which is why I find myself reaching for this combination over and over again.

White on White

I wore this look last Thursday to Blogger Scene's Cocktail Party hosted by Ashley in D.C. and The Fashionably Broke. To say I was nervous is a major understatement. I decided to go on a whim thanks to my friend Jen of Southern Anchors (her blog is the cutest!) I had never met any of the girls IRL (in real life) and was terrified driving into D.C. by myself, (during rush hour nonetheless) but I am SO glad I did. I am a pretty big introvert, so this was huge for me. It was so amazing to meet girls in my area who share the same passions as me and it totally motivated me to continue improving this little blog!

For the cocktail party, I decided to go for a classic and summery white-on-white ensemble and pair with my favorite blush and rose gold accessories for a feminine and chic look. This outfit was perfect for the cocktail party while still remaining totally comfortable in the D.C. humidity.

Thank so much for stopping by!

Lauren
